The Great Shoecase: Cultist Boot
This is my entry into The Great Shoecase competition run by Adobe. The model was provided and I did the texturing in Substance 3D Painter and rendered the scene with Substance Stager. The project as a whole is inspired by the works of HP Lovecraft, utilising symbols and iconography from the Cthulhu Mythos.
There are a few references to the Mythos in this project:
- Across the sole of the shoe the owner has etched in the phrase: Ph’nglui mglw’nafh Cthulhu R’lyeh wgah-nagl fhtagn
- The sole of the shoe is made to look like the suckers of an octopus or octopus like creature
- The cushion on the inside of the shoe is made to look like scales
- Tenticles run along the sides and front of the shoe
- The elder sign is printed in multiple places as a ward to protect the wearer from the Old Gods.
